If you are like most of us, this is not what you pictured when you read about the green fields in the Bible!
As the sheep follow their shepherd they get a bite of grass here and another there. It is not much but it is enough for right now and they trust their shepherd to lead them to more food in the future.
Jesus is our shepherd
Just as the sheep follow their earthly shepherd, so to should we follow our heavenly shepherd. When we do that we can be sure that we will always have enough of everything we need for the moment we are in. When the future comes, He will lead us to what we need when we need it.
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
Psalm 23
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
